LONDON – Members of the Indonesian Muhammadiyah diaspora in the United Kingdom made their mark at the 2026 International Muslim Scouts Fellowship (MSF) Jamboree. This global-scale scouting event was successfully held from 23–26 July 2026 at Gilwell Park, Waltham Abbey, London.

This year, the MSF Jamboree adopted the theme “Pave Your Path”. The theme focuses on strengthening the leadership capacity of young Muslims through a spirit of serving others, building resilience and independence, and solidifying faith identity amidst various future challenges.

For the Muhammadiyah diaspora, participating in this event is a valuable opportunity to expand scouting horizons, weave networks with international Muslim Scout communities, and absorb best practices in youth development.

Visions to Bring Hizbul Wathan to the UK & Ireland

The Chairman of the Special Branch Leadership Council of Muhammadiyah (PCIM) UK & Ireland, Ince Dian Aprilyani Azar, stated that cadres’ participation in this event is a strategic step to instil scouting culture within the diaspora environment.

“We hope that through this active contribution, Muslim Scout groups will grow in various cities where our diaspora reside,” explained Dian in his written statement on Saturday (1 August).

Dian further emphasised that involvement in this international scouting forum is not merely ceremonial participation, but a foundational step to build a more structured scouting movement in the future.

“Hopefully, the presence of Muhammadiyah cadres will serve as a cornerstone so that the Hizbul Wathan (HW) scouting movement can soon arrive and flourish in the UK and Ireland. Thus, Muhammadiyah can provide broader contributions in shaping the character of young Muslim generations here,” he added.

Valuable Experience in the Global Arena

This active involvement was felt directly by Naura, a representative of the Muhammadiyah diaspora who serves as a Young Leader at the 8th Goodmayes Scouts Group. At this Jamboree, Naura was entrusted to be part of the Core Programme Team for the Guardian Zone.

“Being able to help plan programmes for an event of this scale is an incredible opportunity. Seeing everything come to fruition and meeting fellow scouts from various countries such as Brunei, Morocco, Scotland, and others, made the months of preparation feel very worthwhile,” said Naura enthusiastically.

About Muslim Scouts Fellowship (MSF)

As information, the Muslim Scouts Fellowship (MSF) is the largest Muslim scouting organisation in the United Kingdom, officially under the Scout Association. Since developing in the 1990s, MSF now reaches over 15,000 youths and volunteers spread across 135 scouting groups annually. Interestingly, 98 per cent of the organisation’s operations are driven voluntarily by volunteers.

For PCIM UK and Ireland, participation in the MSF Jamboree is a long-term investment. Leadership capacity, scouting experience, and global networks gained by the cadres are expected to become primary capital to initiate the birth of the Hizbul Wathan Scouting Movement in the United Kingdom.

Through this step, the progressive Islamic da’wah upheld by Muhammadiyah is expected to become stronger by nurturing youth generations with character, independence, and orientation towards the benefit of the ummah.
