EN.MUHAMMADIYAH.OR.ID, TUNIS – The Muhammadiyah Special Branch Board in Tunisia paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tunis to strengthen institutional ties and present the result of its Fifth Special Branch Deliberation (Musycabis), which concluded a day earlier on Thursday (16/7).

The delegation was led by Liga Alhaqi, Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Tunisia for the 2026–2028 term, and Naufal Sholahuddin, the outgoing chairperson for the 2024–2026 period. Indonesian Ambassador to Tunisia, Zuhairi Misrawi, received the visit.  

During the meeting, Ambassador Zuhairi encouraged Muhammadiyah members to embrace collaboration, innovation, and adaptability in responding to an increasingly dynamic world. He emphasized that sincere service should remain the foundation of every initiative so that it produces lasting benefits for society. 

Liga said the visit reflected Muhammadiyah Tunisia’s commitment to maintaining close communication with the Indonesian Embassy while seeking guidance for the organization’s future leadership. 

“This visit is part of our effort to strengthen synergy between PCIM Tunisia and the Indonesian Embassy in Tunis,” Liga said. “In addition to presenting the outcomes of our branch assembly, we also sought advice and guidance from the ambassador so that our organization can continue to grow, serve the community, and make meaningful contributions to Indonesians in Tunisia.”

Preparing Future Leaders

During the discussion, Naufal asked the ambassador to share his perspective on the role of Muhammadiyah members after completing their studies abroad.

In response, Zuhairi urged students not to view academic achievement as their ultimate goal. Instead, he encouraged them to use the knowledge, international experience, and professional networks they gain overseas to contribute to Indonesia’s development and strengthen Muhammadiyah’s mission.

According to the ambassador, a Muhammadiyah cadre should be measured not only by personal accomplishments but also by the extent to which their expertise benefits society.

As PCIM Tunisia enters its second decade, the organization hopes to continue developing members with integrity, global perspectives, and strong leadership while expanding Muhammadiyah’s international network. At the same time, it remains committed to promoting the values of Progressive Islam (Islam Berkemajuan), strengthening Muslim solidarity, and serving communities in Indonesia and abroad.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of PCIM Tunisia and the Indonesian Embassy to deepen communication and expand collaboration in supporting Indonesian students in Tunisia. Both sides expressed hope that their partnership would lead to programs benefiting not only Muhammadiyah members but also the broader Indonesian community in the country. (Bhisma)
